How to GTD in a Meeting

This is a very cool trick that I thought of recently. It came about because I had taken on a certain project but didn’t have all of the information needed to complete it. Therefore, I decided to meet with the Board of Trustees, who should have access to all of the information I needed. I composed a list of all the items I needed and made copies of it. I then highlighted one different item on each page. I then passed these sheets around during the meeting and told them that I wanted them to take the responsibility to complete this one highlighted item. Some people didn’t show up to the meeting so I wanted someone to volunteer to take on the leftover tasks. Basically, each sheet represented one task. This allowed us to surpass all of the time spent asking and waiting for volunteers for each item and trying to figure out who can do which job the best. It took some convincing to show them that this way was best, and I’m not sure that they adopted it totally. But honestly, I think this is a brilliant way to get things done in a meeting.
